Getting my Julia Child On.

I realise that I am a person who is very easily inspired. All it takes is a good movie, a good book or even a three minute clip to get me dreaming. So when I watched the awesome movie Julie and Julia right before the Christmas holidays, I just knew I wanted to learn everything there is to know about French cuisine. I looked online for where I could by Mastering the Art of French Cooking and I found a copy on Amazon for £10 which I thought was reasonably priced, except for the fact that I didn't have £10 to spare on a cook book. I decided that maybe it wasn't meant to be but saved it to my bookmarks just in case.

Putting cooking in the back of my mind, I carried on with life until yesterday, I went to my school library (which I never ever go to) and spotted it! I was so freaking happy! I didn't actually borrow it on my account (which would have been the right thing to do Tosin), I just took it because I'm planning on keeping it over the summer even though I won't be going back to my secondary school hahaha. I'll probably get my little sister to return it.

I am soooooooooo excited to start cooking out of this. No, I will not be attempting to make all the recipes within 365 days like Julie tried to (I simply do not have enough dedication or time) but like I said I will try as many as I can over the summer! Have you seen Julie and Julia? Do you like French cuisine? If you have or do, let me know!

January Sales Mini Haul.

This year, I didn't feel like boxing day shopping. So a few days after Christmas the family and I popped down to Lakeland and spent the day there. Surprisingly, I found quite a few items (definitely feel as though my attitude to shopping is improving) so I thought I'd share them with you, as you do.

My sister actually picked out these silver lead earrings for me when she spotted them in Primark. Truth be told, they weren't actually on sale but since the only other earrings I own were lighting bolts, I thought I'd buy them anyway. I love them so much, I wear them with literally all of my outfits now.

Every single blogger but me had one so it was inevitable that I was going to buy this gorgeous floral headband the minute I saw it. Unlike the earrings, this headband was on sale at £1.00 for £2.50. Ahh good ol' Primark. I can't wait to dress up proper girly and rock this headband.

This is my favorite pick from what I bought in Primark. I thought it was jumper when I first saw it put then I pulled it out of the racks and saw it was a jumper dress! I've always wanted one but I've never found one I really like. And at £12 (again it wasn't on sale hahaha) I knew this was perfect. I especially love the collar, this would look great with a some thick tights and boots.

My next stop was River Island which I never ever usually shop in but my mum had a voucher for it so we thought we'd check it out. Pretty much everything in the entire shop was on sale. I found these trousers on one of the first rails I looked through and fell in love with them instantly. They were on a massive discount at £10 from £35!

The whole shopping trip, I was looking for a navy/blue coat just because I had been fancying one for a while now. When I was in Primark, I thought I had found the perfect one because it was on sale for £15 but when I wore it, it was way to big and they had no smaller sizes. When I went into Topshop, I once again thought I'd found the perfect one but when I tried it, it was too short for my liking. I nearly gave up when we went into River Island and I spotted this one. It was perfect (for reals this time lol). Perfect length, perfect size, it even felt amazingly comfortable. And the best part? On sale from £70 to £35. We have been inseparable since.

Did you pick up anything nice in the sales recently?

Eleanor's right.

I started reading a book yesterday and in the front page was this quote. My self esteem has not been the greatest lately but these few words was kind of like a kick up the backside. I'm going to keep this in mind all week. Just thought I'd give you something to think about.

Move over Lana, Artic Monkeys are here.

Source

Yes, I know I am extremely behind on the band wagon. Arctic Monkeys have been around since what, 2002? And here I am discovering their greatness like 11 years later. *Sigh* Tosin, at least try and keep up. If you didn't know before, the leading music lady of my life was the wonderful Lana Del Rey. Hint, hint was. I've been listening to Arctic Monkeys non stop since AM came out.  I can now officially say they are my absolute favorite four piece band (in fact they are the only band I listen to). I'm pretty sure most normal people knew about them (or at least of them) so if you do listen to them, just comment me your favorite song of theirs cause I would absolutely love to know.

Good riddance 2013.

Source
I know tons of people have been writing these posts since last night but I'm just gonna jump on the band wagon and write one anyway. I remember exactly where I was new years eve last year. I had a brand new outfit on, a brand new haircut and was ready to welcome the new year with a bang. But sadly, the beginning of 2013 for me, mostly sucked. Really sucked. I can honestly say I had never had such a rubbish year. For various reasons that I will not go into and am still trying to forget. Because of such a terrible start, I wasn't massively looking forward to 2014 but last night, I made a decision.

I know that this year is not going to be all fun and games (I have my exams this year so I need to crack down) but I am determined to look at the positives and not the negatives. 2013 was all about the negative. Well not this year. That is my main resolution, to be positive. In fact while I was ready other new year's posts (specifically UNSTITCHEDD) I saw an empty jar where you put in all the great things that happened to you during that year in the jar and then reflect on them at the end of the year.

My other resolutions include, blogging more (fingers crossed!), saving more, eating less (I'm an over-eater), being bolder and trying (my absolute best) not to argue with my sisters.

Wish me luck cause I suck at resolutions!

I love you all and wish you all a Happy New Year!
